Remember PONG? I do.
I distinctly remember sitting in front of my Dad's television and sending that llittle white square hurtling back toward his side of the screen. Helping Pitfall Harry jump and vine-swing his way past those pesky gators on my Intellivision. Getting into hockey fights in Blades of Steel on the Nintendo.
I've been a gamer ever since.
How about Dungeons and Dragons? Remember the red box Basic Rules set? Dungeons sketched out on graph paper as the DM guided you and your friends and you fought your way through the depths?
Yep.
Since way back when, I've played that too.
Even now, well into middle age, I livestream games as a Twitch.tv Affiliate under the name StorylineGamer. I've written articles and reviews for Gamersnexus.net. I play in a bi-weekly D&D campaign with my wife and several of our friends. Gaming is just a part of my DNA.
As a voice actor, I owe a lot of my inspiration to my heroes in these gaming communities. I can still remember the sense of awe I felt hearing the performance of Claudia Black as Morrigan in Dragon Age: Origins. Or the first time I really understood just how good Jennifer Hale and Courtenay Taylor are in Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect series.

Roger Craig Smith as Ezio Auditore in the Assasin's Creed games.
Janina Gavankar in Battlefront II.
Troy Baker and Nolan North in...well, pretty much everything.
And then there's Critical Role. No voice actor can ignore the influence of the cast of Critical Role, whether you play D&D or not. As someone who does, these people are monumental; giants of the industry. Laura Bailey, Ashley Johnson, Liam O'Brien, Matthew Mercer, Taliesin Jaffe, Sam Riegel, Marisha Ray, and the amazing Travis Willingham are heroes to me, pure and simple.
